All new for 2023, the Chevrolet Colorado comes with many upgrades including new horsepower and off-road trims. The extended cab is gone in favor of a crew-cab design and a shorter bed.
The Colorado is available in a variety of trim levels, from Work Truck (WT) to ZR2. The base engine is a 2.7-liter turbo with GM estimates of 237 hp and 259 lb-ft.

Every 2023 Chevy Colorado is powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged I4 engine. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Depending on the trim level, it generates either 237 horsepower or 310 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque. This enables WT, LT and Trail Boss models to tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The Colorado’s off-road capabilities are also enhanced by an available ZR2 Desert Boss package that includes 17-inch beadlock wheels, a sport bar, underbody camera and decals. The 2023 Colorado has all the capabilities of a truck, but it is also designed for daily use.
Exterior
The 2023 Chevy Colorado is a great choice if you are looking for a pickup truck with more power, greater range, and better tech. It’s been redesigned for the first time in five years and will be offered in WT (Work Truck), LT, Z71, Trail Boss and ZR2 trims.
New Colorado measures 3.1 inches longer than the predecessor and is 2.3 inches wider. This should allow for more comfort. It also offers more interior space, which is ideal for people who drive trucks like these.
The engine is powered by a turbocharged turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that can produce different outputs depending upon the model. The base WT and LT models get 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque, while the more powerful Z71 and Trail Boss models get 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque.
Interior
The new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is a midsize pickup that’s been completely redesigned inside and out. It is positioned against the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger, and Nissan Frontier. The bolder design and upscale interior blend comfort with refinement and work-ready durability with functionality make it a strong contender.
The new center console is a great place for items to be stored, while the 11.3 inch touchscreen in Chevy’s infotainment system runs on an upgraded informationtainment system. It includes customizable pages, off-road-specific displays and built-in Google apps.
You can select from a variety of fabrics depending on your trim level. Some seats have sporty, round air vents similar to those found in the Camaro.
You can also connect trailers or navigate off-road trails with the Colorado’s up to 10 cameras. Safety Assist is included as standard on this model. The suite includes adaptive cruise control and frontal pedestrian detection.
Technology
The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is a new generation of this midsize pickup that’s focused on elevated design, enhanced performance and new and useful technology. Chevy says it wanted to create a truck that could compete with the Toyota Tacoma, GMC Canyon and Nissan Frontier while still maintaining its uniqueness.
You can also choose from a range of optional and standard safety features to help you stay safe on the roads. You can choose from Forward Collision Alarm, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection and many more.
When you need to pull a trailer, the Colorado gets cool towing tech like ‘hitch guidance’ and ‘hitch view’ that helps you line up with your trailer. You can access the feature through the infotainment system or your phone. You can even summon roadside assistance using the app.
Off-Road
When it comes to off-roading, the 2023 Colorado offers a lot of options. There are three off-road packages — Trail Boss, ZR2 and Desert Boss — each with its own unique capabilities.
Regardless of which one you choose, your engine choice will play a big part in how well the Colorado handles off-road conditions and how much payload it can handle. Starting WT and LT models have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while Trail Boss and ZR2 versions offer a turbocharged 2.7-liter engine.
The Trail Boss package gets a two-inch suspension lift and a three-inch wider front track than the base models, which Chevy said boosts off-road capability. The suspension comes equipped with Multimatic dampers and a brand new suspension. Chevy claims this gives the vehicle a “more progressive ride” than both the LT or WT. It features a 3-inch suspension lift, unique LED lights, and an aluminum skid plate.
