The portals of Kedarnath Temple, one of the four Char Dhams in Uttarakhand, were opened amidst chanting of Vedic mantras & pooja ceremony at 6:10 AM. The first pooja in the temple, located in the Garhwal Himalayas, was performed in the name of PM Narendra Modi. Even though the temple portals have been opened, no devotees were allowed entry into the temple because of the Corona Virus. This will be the first time when there were no devotees present to mark the occasion, except for around 15-16 people.
Pooja Performed While Observing Social Distancing
Every rule & regulation related to social distancing was observed while performing the pooja & other rituals inside the Kedarnath Temple. To avoid crowds inside the Kedarnath Temple, the temple authorities did not allow the entry of devotees. With the opening of the temple portals, offerings of 10 quintals of marigold, rose & other flowers were made at the temple. Prior to the opening of the portals of Kedarnath Temple, a company by the name of Wood Stone cleared the road leading to the temple of glaciers & ice.
