A government welfare scheme to help the sick Tuberculosis patients and to get the proper nutrition to recover faster which is starts in Jharkhand on Sunday with 44 beneficiaries in the Ranchi.
Under the scheme which is jointly run by the Centre and state and conceptualizing four months ago, the state health department will transfer Rs. 500 per month to each beneficiary in the BPL category that is availing treatment at a government-run hospital. The amount is shifting to the patient’s bank account in every month throughout the treatment period.
The Health department data suggesting there are as many as 46,000 enrolled Tuberculosis patients in the state, of whom around 6,000 are in the state of Ranchi.

At the Reproductive and Child Health Office campus in the Namkum, director of National Health Mission in Jharkhand, Kripanand Jha is transferring Rs. 500 each of the 44 beneficiaries on Sunday.
Mr. Jha says that they took over this scheme four months ago while starting, on the directive of the Union health and a family welfare minister, a cleanliness fortnight tagging as Swacchta Hi Seva. He says that “I am delighted it started well and hope it will help many patients.
The Ranchi civil surgeon Shiv Shanker Harijan says this welfare scheme will be significant support for the Tuberculosis patients. Purpose of the programme is to provide nutritional support for the Tuberculosis patients. The 44 beneficiaries will get the sum of every month during their treatment period ranging from the six to 18 months,” he says.
With this nutritional support programme, enrolment through the indigent Tuberculosis patients at the government hospitals is also increasing, he is hoping.
Secretary of a Non-Government Organisation is working for the Tuberculosis control, Gramin Samaj Kalyan Vikas Manch, Mohammed Hasmat Rabbani, heartily welcoming the step. “Nutritional support is vital for a Tuberculosis patient. Many Tuberculosis patients in India die without proper nutrition. This programme will help many poor Tuberculosis patients who ate a protein-rich diet,” he says.
